Libyan Elections Postponed | Equitable News #2

Welcome to the official email #2 – the third one will make it a regular newsletter. Again, for now this is focusing on recent and upcoming elections – this might be adjusted in the future. Looking forward to any feedback – enjoy the ride!

Recent Elections

  • None (Libya see below)

Upcoming Elections

  • Serbia (Jan. 16th, Population 6.9M, Constitutional Referendum Election)
  • Barbados (Jan. 19th, Population 0.3M, General Election)
  • Northern Cyprus (Jan. 23rd, Population 0.3M, Parliamentary Election) – I know, it’s recognized by only 1 member state of the United Nations…
  • Libya (Jan. 24th/TBD, Population 7.0M, Presidential Elections): Originally with its first round of elections scheduled for December 24th 2021 and its second round for Jan. 24th, 2022, on Dec. 21st the head of the High National Election Commission (HNEC) ordered the dissolution of the electoral committees nationwide, which was confirmed by the parliament of Libya the next day. As of now, there is no confirmed new date yet (the parliament is tasked with this; the HNEC had previously suggested Jan. 24th as new date)
