Recent Elections
- Hong Kong (Dec. 19th, Population 7.5M, Legislative Elections, 30.2% voter turn-out): Pro-Beijing candidates have claimed a victory in Hong Kong’s Legislative Council, with only 1 non-pro-establishment candidate seat and 82 of the 90 seats won by members from the pro-establishment and pro-Beijing camps. Only 20 of the 90 legislative seats were directly elected by the public, with nearly half picked by the pro-Beijing Election Committee and the rest chosen by special interest groups like business and trade.

- Chile (Dec. 19th, Population 19.2M, Presidential Runoff Elections, 56% voter turn-out): Leftist Gabriel Boric, 35, of the Social Convergence (Spanish: Convergencia Social, CS) party, wins Chile’s presidential run-off election against José Antonio Kast, member of the Republican Party (Spanish: Partido Republicano; PLR), with 56% vs. 44% of the votes. This comes after Chile’s November 21st General elections that included presidential, parliamentary and regional elections.
